Tell about one event while working at UAB that has changed you?
During my residency year, one morning my preceptor and I were running late for rounds and the Attending sent the nurse to look for "Pharmacy" before starting rounds.
What are some characteristics of a UAB Pharmacist?
Ability to prioritize, ability to work on multidisciplinary teams, and ability to multitask.
What has surprised you the most about the support you've received as a Pharmacist?
The support that I have received at UAB has been phenomenal. I have been encouraged to explore different practice settings with in the hospital including Central pharmacy, OR pharmacy and even have received the blessing of all staff when I decided to pursue a management position at Walgreens pharmacy. When the pharmacy manager position did not work out I was allowed to return to UAB where I am now a decentral pharmacist working on the general medicine/hospitalist service.
Why stay here in Birmingham?
Ideal setting for raising children.
If you could have an endless supply of any food, what would it be?
Chicken
If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
I would love to go on a mission trip to Africa, where HIV is most prevelant and help with the education on prevention.
